With a Mac laptop I couldn't run some of the necessary business applications I need such as QuickBooks or Quicken. So I did the natural thing and went Virtual, I Chose VMware Fusion because as I Know VMware is a monster in the virtualization world with their VSphere line.

During one of the Windows XP updates recently the Virtual Machine Became Frozen with "Windows is Shutting Down".

The Best way around this or any Frozen virtual machine as a matter of fact is to visit the "Virtual Machine" Menu at the Top of the Screen Hold down the alt/option key on your Keyboard and selecting "Force Shutdown" for Fusion 3 for Fusion 2 it will say "Power Off"

This is the equivelent to holding down the power button on a Physical PC / Mac, or pulling the power cable.

After doing the Force shutdown your can start the Virtual machine back up by clicking the large Play circle in the center of the black screen.
